Four things cannot be hidden -- Love, smoke, a pillar of fire, and a man
striding across the open bled.

Biographical Information

Born a Fremen of Sietch Yaracuwan in the time of Harkonnen rule over Arrakis, Otheym became a member of Paul Atreides' Fedaykin corps, and assisted in his conquering of Arrakis, which presumably earned him his position. He was high in the Fedaykin ranks, but grew sick in his old age, and was killed in a Stone Burner assault, which was intended to eliminate Paul.

A young Otheym, before the reign of Paul Atreides.
During Paul Atreides conquering of Arrakis, Otheym helped to spearhead the operation to attack the Emperor's mobile structure. The ensuing battle was a victory for his people, and Otheym became a part of the Fedaykin corps, Paul's death commandoes. Years later, he aquired a wife, and had a daughter, Lichna. In his old age, he became sick, and, as he reached his final days, his daughter was killed by the Tleilaxu Facedancer, Scytale, who left her body in the desert and took her form in order to get close to Paul. The ersatz Lichna asked of Paul tovisit her now dying father. He did so, and Otheym gave him Bijaz, a Tlielaxu dwarf, who held the knowledge of Fremen traitors to Paul. Bijaz urged Paul to leave Otheym's house with haste, and, upon doing so, looked back to see the house and surrounding area reathed in the explosion of an atomic weapon, a Stone Burner, banned long ago by the Great Convention, but being illegally used in an assasination attempt against Paul. Otheym and his wife were killed in the blaze, but Paul escaped with only the loss of his sight.

Out of-Universe Information

Otheym was portrayed by Honorato Magaloni in David Lynch's adaptation of Dune, and Jacob Schwarz in the Dune miniseries.
